How to ruin a 1950s advert
Step one, build the perfect 1950s advert. A pink storybook kitchen, a girl in a pink cotton bodysuit the exact shade of the cabinets,
the whole thing sweet enough to sell any product. Step two? ruin it. Add a pair of muddy garden Hunter boots,
big and black and built for a field, then top it off with plain, faintly nerdy glasses. And the ruin turns out to be the best part,
sugar perfect from the waist up, deadpan and sensible from the ankles down.
